We’re pleased to bring you our round-up highlighting some of PHE’s online activity from the past week. Here’s your chance to catch up on what you might have missed including:

Evaluation of the NHS Health Check programme
The first national evaluation of the NHS Health Check Programme was published in the British Medical Journal Open this week. It found that the programme is effectively identifying people at risk of developing a major cardiovascular incident such as heart attack or stroke.

New Dementia Profiles
This week we published a new Dementia Profile, providing access to local authority and CCG level data across the whole dementia care pathway. This means that for the first time, the profile will enable bespoke comparison between local authorities and CCG’s in England, in one interactive online platform. We blogged about the importance of local data for tackling dementia.

Preventing musculoskeletal disorders
Earlier this year, the Global Burden of Disease project highlighted the toll that musculoskeletal conditions are taking on people’s health. Read our blog on how preventing them is important to public health.

Antibiotic resistance appeal
This week the Chief Medical officer, along with some of the country's most well known doctors, appealed for the nation to take action against antibiotic resistance. In a video which explains what resistance means, they advise on ways that families can work to tackle the problem and stay well. You can also sign up to be an Antibiotic Guardian and pledging to help save our antibiotics.

BMJ awards

COPD and smoking
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is the name for a collection of debilitating lung diseases including chronic bronchitis and emphysema (smoking is the main preventable risk factor). Professor Kevin Fenton blogged about COPD and the new Smokefree campaign on Huffington Post.

UK National Screening Committee recommendations
After meeting in November the NSC published 11 new recommendations, including improvements to some existing screening programmes.

Adults with autism
A new progress report was published this week which sets out progress on the 'Think Autism' updated strategy for adults with autism and outlines new actions to help local areas implement the strategy.

Cold weather
The Met Office issued a number of cold weather alerts week prompting reminders for everyone to look out for vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
